The Arhuaco are one of four Indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta a place they call the Heart of the World. A Mamo is not trained in the usual sense. He is chosen before birth and raised within the tradition, spending his early years in ceremonial preparation deep in the mountains.
Mamo Eduardo Malo Crespo has made a deliberate choice: to share the Alignment Ceremony with people outside the community. Not as a product. Not as a performance. But because he believes that the disconnection of the modern world and the degradation of the Earth are the same problem and that healing one begins with addressing the other.

The ceremony takes place live over Zoom across four consecutive days. Each session runs about 90 minutes. A recording is sent to all participants after each session.
The Mamo speaks from the Sierra Nevada in his native language. A translator carries his words into English in real time. You listen. Sometimes you are guided directly by name. Sometimes there is long silence. Both are part of the work.
No preparation required. Nothing to read beforehand, nothing to bring. You come exactly as you are. The group is kept small so the Mamo has room to work with each person.

Casa de Mujeres sits in the Sierra Nevada, the same mountains where Mamo Eduardo has worked for decades. It's a refuge for women and children who arrive with nowhere else to go. Some come alone. Some come with their children. Some are children who arrive on their own.
The Mamo asked that this be part of the work. Not as a gesture, but because in Arhuaco understanding, you cannot separate ceremony from care for the community it comes from. They are the same thing. When you join, a portion of your registration directly sustains this place and the people in it.
